My 2nd stent removal — the 1st was brutal

Obviously the sub doesn't allow medical advice. What I'm really after is help advocating for myself. I have a stent removal in about 9 days. My last one was one of the most traumatic procedures I've ever been through, and I've had a drain pulled from my spine. A different surgeon did the last removal, and he didn't even use numbing gel. Afterward, all he suggested was xanax before the next one. Xanax isn't going to take away the extreme pain of removal. A different surgeon will do this one, but I'm not sure I'll get any pain management this time either. I just don't know how to handle it since I'm on medicaid and don't want to be flagged as drug seeking. I also have SA trauma that makes it almost impossible to "release" to the scope. Has anyone else dealt with this? Any tips on making sure I'm heard?

I don’t have any suggestions, but I’m so sorry you had to go through that!❤️🩹
