About to have PCNL surgery :/

Not excited or looking forward to having surgery and am a little scared. The recovery looks worse than the surgery itself. How fast can I get back to work (one job's a desk job, the other's waiting tables)? I've heard it can be under a week? 2 weeks is a lot of work to miss. Can I shower, or am I stuck with sponge baths (I really don't want a sponge bath)? Any other tips or things that help during recovery? Thanks.

I havenβt had that specific operation, but I'm wishing you Godspeed on your recovery. Kidney stone problems are the absolute worst.
A week might be doable for the desk job as long as you have access to a toilet. Two weeks is more realistic for the waiting-tables job. Yes, you can shower, the incision is tiny. I've got my eighth one lined up for the relatively near future, and the tech has improved a lot over the years I've been having them, recovery included. Good luck.
I had a PCNL just last night, and I'm glad to say it went well. Right now I'm pretty uncomfortable from the catheter and the tube they put into my left side during the surgery. I'm just waiting on the doctor to come give me the next steps. I'm still in the recovery room, killing time on my phone.
